Founder of PrimalThenics

Chris Miller

Chris Miller has spent over 20 years turning pain, injury and dysfunction into strength, resilience and long-term performance. A registered Doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine with deep roots in rehabilitation, elite sport and applied neuroscience, he ran his own sports-injury practice for 15 years and holds postgraduate training in Functional Neurology, Medical Neuroscience and Sports Nutrition.

Coaching since 1997, Chris has worked across six Olympic and Commonwealth Games and with elite teams including the QLD Reds, Brisbane Broncos, Australian Wallabies and Western Force. He currently leads science and product research for Hydra Longevity and is one of only a handful of Master Trainers worldwide for Exxentric Flywheels — the sole licensed Exxentric educator in Australia.

He's the founder of PrimalThenics, a bodyweight system blending clinical rehab, neuromuscular re-education and primal movement delivered worldwide through the PrimalThenics App, and creator of LeanSuits Fitness, an EMS model delivering real results in just 20 minutes.

Having come back from three knee reconstructions and a sinus tumour with neurological complications, Chris brings rare first-hand insight into recovery and resilience. Away from the studio, he's a devoted husband and full-time stay-at-home dad.

PrimalThenics Team

Nathan Tomarchio

Senior Coach

Nathan is an accredited Exercise Physiologist with over 10 years in allied health and fitness. He works alongside founder Chris to deliver youth and adult programs, run land-based training for the Newmarket Racers National Swim Squad, and coach individuals one-on-one to address the root causes of their health and performance.

With the team for over three years, Nathan was drawn to PrimalThenics for its unique blend of Eastern medicine, neural engagement, mobility, animal flow, and innovative strength and conditioning — including Exxentric flywheels and K-boxes. His one-on-one work is built on his Exercise Physiology background and CHEK Institute training (Holistic Lifestyle Coaching and Integrative Movement Science), helping clients build strong health foundations, reduce physiological load, and do more of what they love.

Nathan is also Head Exercise Physiologist at The Foot Collective, an international leader in foot restoration and play-based movement, and has trained in the WECK Method's rotational movement work. Grounded, playful and curious, he brings a coaching style all his own to the studio.

To work with Nathan one-on-one (health fund rebates may be available) or join one of his group classes, reach out to the PrimalThenics team.

Todd MacDonald
General Manager & Coach

Todd is the GM and Head Coach of Partnerships, working to build meaningful relationships that extend the reach and integrity of the practice. He is also a PrimalThenics and LeanSuits coach, with a deep interest in functional strength, injury prevention, and long-term physical resilience.

He has worked as a CEO in the arts sector and now works as a professional corporate coach, actor, leadership mentor, and trainer. His background as an actor informs a deep understanding of presence, clarity, and how the body shapes the way we think, lead, and relate. This intersection of leadership, performance, and movement underpins his approach to both coaching and training.

Lauren Hogg
Coach

Lauren has a passion for movement and sport, with a background in elite competition swimming.

In 2024, Lauren completed her 200hr Yoga Teacher Certification and now facilitates the Primal Yoga at the studio.

Throughout her swimming career, Lauren enjoyed yoga as a form of recovery and enhancement on her training. She found it assisted with her mental focus, balance and preparation for competitions.

Without meaning to, she became a more well-rounded athlete both in the gym and in the pool due to her improved body-awareness and strength.

She loves the blend of quiet focus and challenging movements that Primal Yoga provides and is committed to helping people feel stronger, more mobile and confident in their ability.

Jo Cuxon
Coach

Jo is a proud PrimalThenics Studio coach with a rich background as a former teacher, PT, Jump Rope for Heart program Co-ordinator

and a current paramedic in the Queensland Ambulance Service. Holding a cert 3 in Fitness and a Bachelor of Applied Science (Physical Education & Ambulance) she brings holistic health experience across education, training and frontline health care.

Having completed Nijmegen Four Day Marches and summiting Island Peak (6,189m) she champions functional movements, such as crawling, agility and bodyweight strength to help sustain healthy active lives.

Jo is looking forward to some 3-4 day pack walks this year and to helping all clients to build power, mobility and resilience through coaching classes.

Steve Rooke
Admin & Coach

Steve is a Lean Suit and PrimalThenics coach who you may also come across in an administrative capacity.

His fitness philosophy has been shaped by a history in the arts, as a stage and screen actor. In both jobs, he encourages and supports robustness and resilience as key factors in longevity and adaptability.

All of the things that Steve has long held important are perfectly encapsulated in the PrimalThenics and LeanSuit programs.

He is the owner of the WhyNot Acting studio and has toured extensively around the country, performing in well over 100 different venues in every state and territory.

Steve’s passion is for helping each individual recognise their true potential. He looks forward to seeing you in class.
